I’m Daniel von Rohr: full stack web developer in Switzerland

I build and maintain web platforms, and I have done so for eleven years. Most of that work is PHP, on Pimcore and TYPO3 — the two systems I have spent the most time in. I started at IntelliMEDIA in 2015, spent four years at Frontal AG working mainly with TYPO3, and have been with instride AG since 2020.

Day to day that means programming: building and extending customer applications, their data models, integrations and front ends, and keeping them running through upgrades.

I am as interested in what an application runs on as in the application itself: cloud platforms and what they make possible, serverless among them, and Kubernetes in particular, which I study in my own time. I hold the CKAD, KCNA and KCSA certifications and am working towards the CKA and CKS.

Teaching is part of it too. I took over an apprentice in his final year after the previous trainer left, and saw him through to his qualification — explaining things clearly turned out to be the best way of finding out what I actually understood. Outside work I am rooted in family life, and I treat a balanced schedule as a condition rather than a perk — it is what keeps the learning going.
